"Tangled" is an original acrylic painting from my Educated Hoops series. A young girl in a white tank top and shorts plays with a jump rope, her body mid-motion as she casts a large shadow across a colorful, abstract background. Lines loop and twist through the composition, creating the sense of a playful but intricate world—one full of motion, emotion, and layered meaning. The scene feels alive, imaginative, and just a little chaotic, as childhood often is.
This painting came from the feeling of trying to help my child make sense of her inner world. Children’s developing minds and emotions can feel like a giant, tangled ball of yarn. And while we might try to carefully tease it all apart—hoping to wind things into a neat, manageable shape—the truth is: thoughts and feelings aren't meant to be tied up in perfect bows. They are complicated, messy, and beautifully real. Tangled is a reflection on what it means to support that complexity, not solve it.

About Original Artwork
Paint Media
Denise paints with archival quality acrylic paints including Golden Acrylic Paints and mediums as well as Nova Paints. There can be mixed media here and there such as charcoal, colored pencil and waxed crayon.
Substrate
Denise paints on cradled hardboard and gessoed canvas. Pieces that are 24x36 inches or smaller, are painted on cradled hardboard 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches deep with paint finished edges matching the overall color scheme of the painting.
Larger pieces on canvas are painted while tacked to a large hardboard frame. This way I can still sand away as much as I want with a hard surface backing the painting.
The painting is then removed and reframed on stretcher bars for a more lightweight finished artwork which is easier to ship and easier to hang.
Finish
All artwork have been finished with a clear gloss or semi gloss water-based acrylic polymer varnish with Ultra Violet Light Stabilizers [UVLS] that protects interior acrylic paintings from dust and ultraviolet light.
In the event that you hang your painting in the dining room and it get splattered with spaghetti sauce (believe me this can happen), the painting can be wiped clean to bring it back to it's intended design.
Shipping
Original artwork is usually shipped within 3-7 days from an order being received either by UPS or Fed Ex.
All original artwork are shipped from my studio in the Pacific Northwest. Each piece is packaged with care for a safe journey to your home.
For original artwork valued over $300 US dollars a signature is required upon delivery.
