"Free Fall" captures the exhilarating moment of a backwards dive, where trust meets skill and courage transforms into grace. A figure in a vibrant red bathing suit arches through space, body curved in perfect form as she surrenders to gravity without seeing where she'll land. Multiple layered images create a dynamic geometric background of turquoise blues, sunny yellows, and fresh greens, showing the continuous arc of her dive. The words "Free Fall" appear throughout in flowing script, echoing the movement and the leap of faith required to let go completely. This bold, energetic piece celebrates the beauty of trained skill meeting fearless action.
How do we give ourselves permission to free fall—to dive gracefully knowing we might not land perfectly? This painting explores that thrilling intersection of preparation and abandon—the freedom to take risks, to arc beautifully through the air, and to trust that even an imperfect landing is part of the journey. The vibrant color palette of reds against cool teals and warm golds creates a sun-drenched summer feeling that brings energy to any space. Perfect for living rooms, home offices, or creative studios where you want to celebrate courage, inspire bold moves, and remind yourself that sometimes the most graceful acts require leaping before you look—with the confidence that your preparation will carry you through.

About Original Artwork
Paint Media
Denise paints with archival quality acrylic paints including Golden Acrylic Paints and mediums as well as Nova Paints. There can be mixed media here and there such as charcoal, colored pencil and waxed crayon.
Substrate
Denise paints on cradled hardboard and gessoed canvas. Pieces that are 24x36 inches or smaller, are painted on cradled hardboard 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches deep with paint finished edges matching the overall color scheme of the painting.
Larger pieces on canvas are painted while tacked to a large hardboard frame. This way I can still sand away as much as I want with a hard surface backing the painting.
The painting is then removed and reframed on stretcher bars for a more lightweight finished artwork which is easier to ship and easier to hang.
Finish
All artwork have been finished with a clear gloss or semi gloss water-based acrylic polymer varnish with Ultra Violet Light Stabilizers [UVLS] that protects interior acrylic paintings from dust and ultraviolet light.
In the event that you hang your painting in the dining room and it get splattered with spaghetti sauce (believe me this can happen), the painting can be wiped clean to bring it back to it's intended design.
