La Soloiste et Ensemble - Original 30x40 inches
Semi abstract figurative artwork painted in acrylic on canvas or cradled hardboard.
Sometimes Flamenco dance is focused on one dancer and sometimes it is a group. Not unlike ballet, there is often an ensemble of dancers that are there to support the star of the show. Often it is the dancer that is the most technically proficient and has a certain charisma to command stage presence.
While studying dance, the goal was always to get to that prima ballerina status. What I have learned with my art career is that we all have a unique creativity to bring to humanity and it does not need to be always the main star. Being a key part of the ensemble is just as important for a show to really shine.

About Original Artwork
Paint Media
Denise paints with archival quality acrylic paints including Golden Acrylic Paints and mediums as well as Nova Paints. There can be mixed media here and there such as charcoal, colored pencil and waxed crayon.
Substrate
Denise paints on cradled hardboard and gessoed canvas. Pieces that are 24x36 inches or smaller, are painted on cradled hardboard 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches deep with paint finished edges matching the overall color scheme of the painting.
Larger pieces on canvas are painted while tacked to a large hardboard frame. This way I can still sand away as much as I want with a hard surface backing the painting.
The painting is then removed and reframed on stretcher bars for a more lightweight finished artwork which is easier to ship and easier to hang.
Finish
All artwork have been finished with a clear gloss or semi gloss water-based acrylic polymer varnish with Ultra Violet Light Stabilizers [UVLS] that protects interior acrylic paintings from dust and ultraviolet light.
In the event that you hang your painting in the dining room and it get splattered with spaghetti sauce (believe me this can happen), the painting can be wiped clean to bring it back to it's intended design.
