"FLY little bird" is an original acrylic painting from my WORDS series. It captures a powerful moment of movement and transformation—a dancer in mid-air, suspended in a graceful leap, wearing a flowing pink dress. Around her, abstract blue and green figures add rhythm and energy, evoking the push and pull of inner growth. The layered composition pulses with motion, emotion, and the weight of letting go.
I painted this during a time when I was searching for ways to encourage my daughter to step into her full potential. Like a small bird perched at the edge of a branch, it took courage—for both of us—to take that leap. The dancer’s dynamic pose mirrors that emotional moment: the tension between holding on and learning to fly. Beneath the surface lie layers of texture, color, and hidden words, forming a quiet record of the process and emotion behind this piece.

About Original Artwork
Paint Media
Denise paints with archival quality acrylic paints including Golden Acrylic Paints and mediums as well as Nova Paints. There can be mixed media here and there such as charcoal, colored pencil and waxed crayon.
Substrate
Denise paints on cradled hardboard and gessoed canvas. Pieces that are 24x36 inches or smaller, are painted on cradled hardboard 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches deep with paint finished edges matching the overall color scheme of the painting.
Larger pieces on canvas are painted while tacked to a large hardboard frame. This way I can still sand away as much as I want with a hard surface backing the painting.
The painting is then removed and reframed on stretcher bars for a more lightweight finished artwork which is easier to ship and easier to hang.
Finish
All artwork have been finished with a clear gloss or semi gloss water-based acrylic polymer varnish with Ultra Violet Light Stabilizers [UVLS] that protects interior acrylic paintings from dust and ultraviolet light.
In the event that you hang your painting in the dining room and it get splattered with spaghetti sauce (believe me this can happen), the painting can be wiped clean to bring it back to it's intended design.
Shipping
Original artwork is usually shipped within 3-7 days from an order being received either by UPS or Fed Ex.
All original artwork are shipped from my studio in the Pacific Northwest. Each piece is packaged with care for a safe journey to your home.
For original artwork valued over $300 US dollars a signature is required upon delivery.
