Dancing Poppies on Yellow Ochre - Original 11x14 inches
Semi abstract figurative artwork painted in acrylic on canvas or cradled hardboard.
Poppies have always been my flower of choice to paint. Their stems look like dancers blowing in the wind with large flower heads too big for their bodies. I like to try and capture their wispy nature and the delicate beauty of their tissue like petals.
This series of three paintings are an explorations of different arrangements of stemmed flowers with boldly colored backgrounds, this one being a yellow ochre, the other two are in teal and orange.
11 x 14 inch acrylic on 1/2 inch cradled hardboard. The edges are painted the same base color as the background. Wired and ready to hang.

About Original Artwork
Paint Media
Denise paints with archival quality acrylic paints including Golden Acrylic Paints and mediums as well as Nova Paints. There can be mixed media here and there such as charcoal, colored pencil and waxed crayon.
Substrate
Denise paints on cradled hardboard and gessoed canvas. Pieces that are 24x36 inches or smaller, are painted on cradled hardboard 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches deep with paint finished edges matching the overall color scheme of the painting.
Larger pieces on canvas are painted while tacked to a large hardboard frame. This way I can still sand away as much as I want with a hard surface backing the painting.
The painting is then removed and reframed on stretcher bars for a more lightweight finished artwork which is easier to ship and easier to hang.
Finish
All artwork have been finished with a clear gloss or semi gloss water-based acrylic polymer varnish with Ultra Violet Light Stabilizers [UVLS] that protects interior acrylic paintings from dust and ultraviolet light.
In the event that you hang your painting in the dining room and it get splattered with spaghetti sauce (believe me this can happen), the painting can be wiped clean to bring it back to it's intended design.
